A new rebooted R-rated Hellboy movie is in the works.

For years, fans have been waiting for fantasy-horror director Guillermo del Toro to finish his Hellboy trilogy. But in February 2017, del Toro disappointed fans with the official news that a third installment was dead in the water.

Like they say, where one door closes, another one opens. Today, Hellboy creator Mike Mignola took to Facebook and delighted fans with some startling news:

We’re getting a brand new vision of Hellboy and it will be directed by Neil Marshall, starring David Harbour in the titular role. Even though del Toro did a fine job with his interpretation of Hellboy, the films never seemed to have captured the essence of Mignola’s comics.

Marshall seems like someone who will make a faithful adaptation. After all, he did direct one of the most memorable and ambitious episodes of a series based on a previous literary work—Game of Thrones. “The Watchers on the Wall,” considered one of the best episodes in the overall series, earned Marshall a Primetime Emmy Awards nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.

Taking over Ron Perlman’s reins as Big Red is David Harbour of Stranger Things fame. He seems like a great choice. And not just because he has the great “Hell Boyish” bone structure foundation for the prosthetics—but his acting range will definitely bring depth to this intriguing character.
