James Gunn confirms Ayesha’s return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
By Erik Swann
As expected, it seems that James Gunn is not finished with Ayesha and the Sovereign!
WARNING: Potential spoilers ahead
One of the three new villains we met in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was Ayesha, the arrogant leader of the Sovereign, who was played by Elizabeth Debiki. Although her presence was limited, things did get really interesting when one of the film’s post-credits scenes reveal that she is engineering a new being, who she plans to name “Adam”. With this, James Gunn has shown audiences Ayesha’s future.
Gunn recently spoke with IGN and confirmed that Ayesha will definitely return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He also named Debiki as one of his favorite actors he’s ever worked with:

"“I absolutely plan on bringing Elizabeth Debicki back. She’s actually one of my favorite actors I’ve ever worked with. I think on this movie between her, Pom Klementieff who plays Mantis, and Chris Sullivan who plays Taserface, they really were three of the best actors I’ve ever worked with and were all such a joy on this film to deal with that I would love to deal with them again.”"
This doesn’t come as a surprise at all. Ayesha and the Sovereign suffered a major defeat at the hands of the Guardians of the Galaxy, but other than their bruised egos, they came out of the ordeal relatively unscathed. Of course, there is also the unresolved matter of the cocoon that is holding Adam Warlock.

Now, one of the big questions is whether or not Ayesha and the Sovereign will be the main antagonists of the third film. Also, will we get to meet the Sovereign elders who are apparently upset with Ayesha? All will likely be revealed when the third installment of the cosmic Marvel franchise hits theaters.
