Is Tyrese Gibson playing Green Lantern in the DCEU?

Could Gibson really be bringing Green Lantern to the big screen?
Zack Snyder’s Justice League will bring together six of the most iconic superheroes in all of comic book history. However, one famous character is notably absent from the line-up—Green Lantern. But this hasn’t stopped actors like Common from pursuing the role. Now, another actor who has been campaigning to play the role for years has made a very interesting move.
Tyrese Gibson took to Instagram to post a picture of the John Stewart incarnation of the character, which was taken from the upcoming video game, Injustice 2. But the most cryptic part of the post was the brief caption which reads: “It’s time.”
Before we get too ahead of ourselves, let’s remember that this does not mean anything is official. This could just mean that the upcoming Justice League (and maybe the fast-approaching Wonder Woman) has encouraged Gibson to renew his efforts to play the character.
But, of course, the extreme case would be that he has, in fact, landed the part and is signifying it with this post. In the past, he has confirmed meetings with Warner Bros. in regards to the role, and maybe the two parties have reached an agreement. However, like I said, this is the extreme scenario, and right now, the former seems more likely.

Many fans (including myself) have “mixed” feelings about Gibson playing John Stewart. Most have wanted Idris Elba to play Stewart for years even after his casting as Heimdall in the MCU. I personally wouldn’t mind Sterling K. Brown or even relative newcomer Trevante Rhodes. There is definitely no shortage of interest or available actors for the role, so the race to play the Emerald Knight is going to be very close.
