Silvestri made a brief, but strong statement about the upcoming Avengers films.

Alan Silvestri is one of the most accomplished composers in Hollywood. With memorable scores in films like Back to the Future (1985) and Forrest Gump (1994), he has definitely etched his name in movie history. Of course, one of his most iconic scores can be heard in Marvel’s The Avengers (2012). He will also score the two upcoming Avengers films, and has now provided us with a small tease.

Silvestri was recently honored with the Icon award at the annual Film, TV & Visual Media Awards of Broadcast Music Inc., and while there, he spoke with Variety. During the conversation, he revealed that he has already seen footage from Avengers: Infinity War, and said that it’s “everything we could have hoped for.” According to Variety, recording for the film’s score is currently set to begin in January 2018.

Some might forget that The Avengers was not the composer’s first foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His first time collaborating with them was on 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger.

More from Movies

Avengers: Infinity War and the Untitled Avengers sequel are already two of the most anticipated comic book movies being released in the next few years, but Silvestri’s comments are sure to get fans even more pumped.

Let’s be honest. Most of us really enjoy the MCU, but no one can deny that the scores have been lacking in some areas. The music that is probably the most memorable is Silverstri’s score for The Avengers, particularly the team’s main theme. Apart from this, fans may only find a handful of tracks that stand out. For instance, I personally enjoy “Taking A Stand” from Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and “Black Tears” from Guardians of the Galaxy (2014).

However, things have been looking up for the Marvel scores. Michael Giacchino delivered some nice tracks for last year’s Doctor Strange and will also score this summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. And, Ludwig Göransson has also been confirmed for Black Panther.

It will be interesting to see what these other composers have in store for their films, but with Silvestri, we know that we’ll be getting a powerful score that should be able to match the intensity of these next two Avengers movies.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released in theaters on May 4, 2018, while the Untitled Avengers Sequel will arrive on May 3, 2019.
