If you could choose your enemy, who would it be? Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson just chose Armie Hammer (well, he didn’t name him, but he might as well have). Let me give you a little bit of context. As we all know by now, Johnson is slated to play Black Adam in the DC Extended Universe’s Shazam! That’s all well and good—except the hero whose name is in the title hasn’t even been cast yet.
Ever since Warner Bros. announced that a Captain Marvel movie was in the works (for the layperson, “Captain Marvel” was the original name of Shazam), rumors and fan petitions have been flying around as to who should play the coveted role.
Today, Johnson gave his thoughts to We Got This Covered, throwing Armie Hammer’s name into the ring (again, he didn’t name him, but the hint he gave is pretty blatant). Watch the video where Johnson talks about why he was attracted to the role of Black Adam, and why he thinks Hammer would be a good choice.
Like I said, Johnson didn’t explicitly mention Hammer’s name, but we all know who he was talking about. Armie Hammer was in 2013’s The Lone Ranger and has been someone heavily rumored to be up for the role of Hal Jordon / Green Lantern in the DCEU. Strangely enough, Hammer was also cast as Bruce Wayne / Batman in Mad Max franchise creator George Miller’s abandoned project—Justice League Mortal.
What do you think? Would Armie Hammer make a good Shazam? Let us know in the comments.
