Preparations continue for Summer of Heroes at DCA
Summer of Heroes is taking over at Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort. Here’s a look ahead of the May 27 opening.
Marvel is taking over at Disney California Adventure this summer as the Summer of Heroes takes over the park. From flags in the entrance plaza to signage at the DCA front gates, superheroes are everywhere.
It’s impossible to miss the Collector’s fortress towering over Disney California Adventure these days. The brightly colored tower is the crown jewel of the Collector’s vast museum of cosmic rarities and it houses his most prized possession: the Guardians of the Galaxy. The fences around the new ride have come down, revealing the exterior of the edifice at ground level.

Ride testing has been taking place, but so far guests have not been able to experience the ride as part of a soft opening. It’s unclear if the ride will have a soft opening considering that there is a premium preview package available for $149 that allows guests to be the first to ride before it officially opens.
The new Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT ride will feature six different ride experiences, as well as its own soundtrack and a queue filled with different items from movies in the Marvel Universe. There have been whispers that the displays in the queue will change as new movies are released.
Take a look at some of the preparation going on ahead of the Summer of Heroes debut:
Along with Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT comes the Avengers Training Initiative and a dance-off with Star-Lord himself. New photo opportunities with Groot and Black Widow will also be available.
The Summer of Heroes is going to be immersive, and it’s nice to see that it is being promoted so heavily. Disneyland has had the Season of the Force in place prior to the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and now it’s Marvel’s turn in the spotlight.
