Preview: Spider-Men II from Marvel

Marvel Comics has released a preview of the first issue of Spider-Men II, which will answer the lingering questions from 2012’s Spider-Men.

Who is the other Miles Morales?

This is the question fans have been asking themselves ever since the last page of 2012’s Spider-Men miniseries. The book saw the first team-up of the original Peter Parker version of Spider-Man and the Ultimate Universe’s own Spider-Man, Miles Morales.

Written by Brian Michael Bendis, the miniseries was a hit that connected with fans of both versions of the character. But there has been one big mystery that has had fans wondering for over fiver years now.

On the final page, once Peter Parker returns to his own universe, he looks up his own version of Miles Morales to see what he may be like. His reaction portended that the results were fairly shocking and that there was more story to come at some point down the road.

Of course, between then and now we had Secret Wars, which did away with the Ultimate Universe and moved Miles and his version of Spider-Man to the main Marvel Universe. With the character’s history and origin likely to be retconned at some in a story yet to be told, readers weren’t even sure if the Spider-Men miniseries was even part of continuity anymore.

Turns out Spider-Men is and that we are going to get an answer to our questions about the other Miles Morales very soon.

Hitting comic shops in July, Spider-Men II #1 will begin to take the wraps off that mystery as well as address some of the changes Miles has gone through since the Secret Wars. Written by Bendis and featuring artwork by current Spider-Man artist Sara Pichelli, the miniseries will reveal who the other Miles Morales is as well as feature the two Spider-Men teaming up once again.

Spider-Men II #1 arrives in comic shops and digitally on July 12 and will include a cover by Pichelli as well as variant covers by Daniel Acuna, Kadir Nelson, Julian Totino Tedesco and Jesus Saiz.
