Black Panther‘s cast is filled with top-tier talent. In terms of the film’s antagonists, we know the prince of Wakanda will tangle with Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger and Andy Serkis’ Ulysses Klaue. But it seems another Marvel rogue will be making an appearance.
Actress and singer Nabiyah Be has revealed via Twitter that she will be playing Tilda Johnson. In the comics, the character goes by the alias Nightshade. Be seems to be excited about the role, and judging by her post, it sounds like she’s had to keep her involvement under wraps for some time.
Nightshade made her comic book debut back in 1973. During her publication history, the character has also gone by the names “Dr. Nightshade” and “Deadly Nightshade.” She may not be known to general audiences (or even some comic book fans), but she is a formidable opponent. She has a super genius intellect, and besides Black Panther, she’s also gone up against heroes like Captain America and Luke Cage.

In the past, the MCU’s side villains have proven to be somewhat lackluster. Djimon Honsou’s Korath from Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) didn’t get an ample amount of screen time. And aside from the astral plane fight, Scott Adkins’ Lucian from last year’s Doctor Strange was an afterthought. Let’s just hope that Be’s Tilda Johnson can break that trend.
Black Panther arrives in theaters on February 16, 2018.
