10. Iron Man 3 (2013)

To say that this third installment is controversial would be an understatement. While director and co-writer Shane Black didn’t bring Iron Man back to the former glory of his debut, he was able to deconstruct the title character and take him to some pretty interesting places (both geographically and internally).
He also took some bold creative risks such as taking the hero’s suits away from him, and adding that oh so popular villain twist. While the film wasn’t as grim as advertised, it did turn out to be just the shake-up that the Armored Avenger’s franchise needed following the shaky sequel.
