Her Cape Guide to SDCC continues with #81: Amazon’s The Tick offsite event at San Diego Comic Con.

I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t know a lot about The Tick prior to experiencing Amazon Prime’s San Diego Comic Con offsite event. That changed once I toured the offsite event and had a chance to see what the show was about. I am now very excited to see The Tick when it debuts on Amazon Prime on August 25.

The Tick’s SDCC offsite event was a three part experience. The first step was registration at the Amazon Prime Lounge. I was given a wristband with a chip inside, along with a pair of headphones so I could silently screen the first episode of The Tick. The lounge was full of photo ops and televisions. And air conditioning. All things considered, this was a nice place to hang out.

From the lounge, guests can move into the next phase of the offsite where you had the opportunity to create a custom item featuring The Tick’s antennae in different emotional states. While designing your item, you can actually maneuver the giant replica antennae using mechanical levers.

The final phase of the experience involves guests going inside a room to find clues to help The Tick solve a crime using the wristbands. There’s also a really fun photo op at the end.

More from Conventions And Shows

Throughout the attraction fans are asked about their knowledge of The Tick and whether or not they’re Amazon Prime members. For fans not aware of The Tick and its story, the newest superhero show to debut looks to be the perfect blend of campy superhero and drama. A campy drama.

The Tick debuts on August 25 on Amazon Prime.
