Director Joe Russo reveals how much of Avengers: Infinity War will take in space.

There’s no question Avengers: Infinity War will be big — and ambitious. It will be Marvel Studios’ largest endeavor to-date. Just the shear amount of characters will make any fan’s head spin. With that many players interacting, you can bet the arena will be huge — because our heroes and villains need some room to do their awesome battles!

For some time now, fans have been wondering just how large and expansive the setting will be. Is most of it taking place in space? Or is it more of an Earthbound movie with some smatterings of cosmic battles.

CinemaBlend was able to ask those very questions to director Joe Russo — one half of the directing duo known as the Russo brothers. Lucky for us, Russo was pretty generous with that info and gave it up in a candid fashion:

"“A good amount. It’s a lot of different narratives driving towards each other. A lot of different characters, so you have to tell a lot of story. And it’s a good mix between space and Earth.”"

There you have it folks, it’s an almost fifty-fifty split between our lonely rock and the ginormous cosmic vacuum above us. Now the question is: what order will it be in? Will the first half be on Earth, with the team later launching off to do battle with the “purple one who likes to sit a lot”?

From what Russo said, the various plots will most likely drive the different settings. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the final battle has them going from Earth to space and back — especially with the involvement of Doctor Strange and his portals.
