The actual story for Captain Marvel is still shrouded in mystery. But thanks to SDCC 2017, we’ve learned quite a few key details. It will be set in the 1990s, with the Skrulls being the main big bad, and include a young Nick Fury — in pre-eye patch form.

Now, thanks to the MCU Exchange, we have a very interesting rumor — the original Captain Marvel, Kree hero Mar-Vell, may be making an appearance in the upcoming, highly anticipated film.

This rumor has been given more teeth with MCU Exchange‘s speculation on certain plot points that play directly into the titular character. Mar-Vell will, of course, be involved in the Kree-Skrull war. And because of this, the Kree Psyche-Magnitron machine will be heavily featured — and be directly involved in Carol Danvers’s receiving her powers and abilities.

Due to her becoming a Kree/human hybrid, Carol’s aging will also be considerably slowed. This will explain why she’ll appear to be the same age when Avengers 4 comes around (even though twenty to thirty years have passed).

Another rumor in the same report claims audiences may see Carol in a different suit than her Captain Marvel one. Early drafts of the script point to Carol having an initial career as Ms. Marvel — which means we may see her in her classic black and yellow garb.

As interesting and awesome as these rumors sound, they’re still rumors. Marvel Studios and its brain trust haven’t confirmed or substantiated any of it. We’re sure that as we get closer to the production date, more details will be leaked or revealed. So stay tuned as we bring you the latest for this exciting film.
