Injustice 2, Black Manta: Everything to know about the new DLC character

Injustice 2 released a new DLC character, Black Manta. What should be known about this character?

Calling all gamers! A new fighter had entered the Injustice 2 arena. As part of the “Fighter Pack 2” downloadable content,  the first character to be released is super villain Black Manta. Now unless you purchased the “Ultimate Edition” or  “Fighter Pack 2” for your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One gaming console, this character isn’t available to play as yet. It will be available for individual sale starting on Sep. 19. Are you unsure if you should cough off some cash for this extra character?

Let’s look at what there is to know about this new release.

Who is Black Manta?

Black Manta is one of Aquaman’s most interesting villains. The character first appeared back in 1967, in the comic book called Aquaman #35. In the original iteration, he grew up jealous of that there was a being (Aquaman) who could breathe and live underwater. He built his own high-tech suit in order to take to the sea and to eventually match Aquaman’s abilities. One of Black Manta’s notable moments is killing Arthur the Third, selling his soul to the character known as Neron, and transforming into a monstrous and powerful manta.

Black Manta is full or rage and is very strong. He is a deadly assassin, trained to use many weapons such as knives, trident, and is also skilled in hand to hand combat. Most versions of Black Manta are usually equipped with a harpoon gun, rocket launchers and a helmet that shoot giant laser beams. And you bet that all of these weapons are available to be used in this video game.

Black Manta is a truly worthy addition to the Injustice 2 roster. The character has enhanced strength, meaning he can lift and throw all environmental items in the arena at opponents. His power moves are very diverse and interesting to look at. My personal favorite is the “Rising Tide” move, which automatically brings you straight to your opponent for a devastating blow. This works anywhere you are, similar to Supergirl’s “Space Port” move. His super move is visually thrilling and savage. Using a range of weapons and abilities easily ranks up to one of my favorites in the whole game. Another interesting advantage is he attacks twice, meaning there are two chances to catch your opponent in this move.

The character is mid-speed, but utilizing his jetpack can help you move quickly. Did I mention he also has a freaking jetpack? This is his “superpower” and could be used to avoid attacks as well as capitalize on your combos. Black Manta also has some hilarious one-liners, such as telling Black Canary to “choke on his harpoon” and Robin to “stay in the kiddie pool” just to name a few.

If you are a fan of characters that sacrifice speed for strength as well as rack up in some style, Black Manta is for you. I definitely enjoyed my first few times playing as the character and I’m excited to learn more combos. Black Manta has an interesting feel to him that is really unique. Any DC fan with this video game needs to add Black Manta to their fighter select screen now. He has plenty of powerful and tactical moves to keep your opponents guessing and keep you entertained.
