This week in comics, Marvel finally kicks off their Legacy event and Tim Drake rises from the dead. Check out the list of comic books you need to get this time.

More from Comics

Marvel Legacy #1: written by Jason Aaron and art by Esad Ribic. Marvel has spent a long time building up to their release of Marvel Legacy. This one issue will set the stage for the massive changes across their entire universe. All of the Generations issues that have had our heroes jumping across time to meet their progenitors have led to this issue.

This one story is supposed to redefine the entire Marvel universe so the expectations are high. It promises a dramatic return of a fan favorite character and the rising of an old villain. The shock waves of these events will also start the re-numbering of Marvel books across the board as long-running series return to their original numbering. It will be paying tribute the storied history of Marvel comics and be a brand new jumping on point for new readers.

Detective Comics #965: written by James Tynion IV and art by Eddy Barrows. Tim Drake seemingly sacrificed himself to save Gotham City last year. His apparent death shook the foundations of the Bat-family and broke them apart in ways that might never heal. In truth, Robin was captured by the mysterious Mr. Oz and imprisoned for many months now. This issue marks his return to DC comics. In ‘A Lonely Place of Living,’ Drake will discover who else is locked in this prison with him and he will be stuck with an impossible challenge.

He must either escape one of the most dastardly prisons ever built or spent the rest of his life forgotten, drifting beyond space and time. James Tynion IV has revitalized Detective Comics and given the Bat-family a whole new dynamic. This will kick off his biggest story thus far and one of the biggest of the REBIRTH era of DC comics.

Crosswind #4: written by Gail Simone and art by Cat Staggs. Gail Simone’s first Image comics series is off to a killer start. A ruthless hit-man and repressed housewife have somehow swapped bodies. Now they must dodge their families, lovers, and enemies as they figure out how to survive these extraordinary circumstances. It looks like the people in their lives are starting to figure out what is going on with their body swap and a psychopathic killer is closing in on them. Gail Simone knows how to write a brilliantly dark humorous tale like no one else and Cat Staggs artwork gives their whole story a dark noire vibe.

Ducktales #1: written by Joe Caramagna and art by Luca Usai, Guiseppe Fontana, and Gianfranco Florio. The newly re-invigorated Disney XD Ducktales series has spawned a brand new comic book series. In “The Great Experiment of the Washing Machine,” Donald Duck and his nephews will visit a top-secret lab, full of dangerous new inventions and then they will discover “The Chilling Secret of the Lighthouse!”  I can personally recommend the new animated series if you are a fan of the original or even just high-quality cartoons. The comic book world is sadly lacking in quality all-ages comic books and it is important to remember that without new young fans the comic book industry won’t be around for us grown-ups. Pick this one up for the kids in your life or the kid in your heart.

Generations: The Americas #1: written by Nick Spencer and art by Paul Renaud. I’m picking this one among all the other Generations comic books out there because no character has had it rougher this year than Captain America. Sam Wilson finds himself thrown into the past alongside Steve Rogers and Bucky as they fight to protect the world from an impossible threat. More importantly, this will be the first chance in a long time to see the classic Captain America back in action before his series re-launches with Mark Waid in a couple of weeks.
