Slate has made a name for herself in the comedy world through her work on Saturday Night Live, Bob’s Burgers and Parks and Recreation. However, she has also proven to be a skilled dramatic actress as evidenced by her work in Gifted. Recently, she even took a step into the superhero genre when she voiced Harley Quinn in The Lego Batman Movie.
The project is really starting to gain momentum, as production is quickly approaching. Slate is poised to join a cast that already consists of Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed and Michelle Williams. Ruben Fleischer will direct the film from a screenplay by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinker.
The big mystery now is the identity of Slate’s character. Casting her would indicate that it will at least be a supporting role. But, will it be a character from the comics or an original creation for the movie? It’s probably only a matter of time before we find out, but until then, all we can do is speculate.
