Marvel Cinematic Universe: Ranking the TV shows
By Dante Nelson
6. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Look, obviously this show is the one that started the MCU TV universe. This show also seems to be the only one that seriously ties into the movies; even having cast members from the movies appear.
While it started off pretty solid, the show has had a turn towards the vision of the Inhumans. It’s no coincidence that the show has started to fall off, which is why ABC wanted to kill it but Disney stepped in. Then, looking at the new Inhumans show and how that’s going isn’t really a shock since it wasn’t working from its original appearance in Agents.
5. The Defenders
Man, this was sort of a letdown. It was nice to see the TV version of The Avengers show up, but it seemed like it was forced in some ways.
For instance, there was some sort of hidden message about coming together despite differences but it never really translated. They had a great villain who really ended up stealing the show (Netflix Marvel shows do this well, actually) but that’s not a good thing when your heroes coming together should be the focus.
The action was very good, though and the story made some sense. It’s not easy to balance the supporting casts of each of the heroes, but they did a decent job. One thing I loved about the show was the cinematography. Whenever they switched between heroes, the lighting and colors changed to the hero’s respective shows. You saw the cold purple for Jessica, the warm yellow for Luke, the aggressive red for Daredevil, and the … uh, darkness of Iron Fist.
This is not a bad show at all. It’s just not as good as the following shows on the list.
