Hey Marvel, how about a Loki movie?

Although Thor: Ragnarok is coming out soon, but does his brother Loki deserve his own feature film as well in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

As you may be aware, there’s a new Thor movie coming out on Friday, Nov. 2. It’s the final movie Marvel will release in 2017.

As you can see, Thor: Ragnarok seems poised to shake the franchise of its boring ways and bring some much-needed life to the God of Thunder.

However, this does not erase the fact that it was Loki who was the best part of the previous two Thor movies.

Loki is played with magnetic glee by Tom Hiddleston, a very charming actor who is more than likely going to take on the mantle of James Bond after Daniel Craig finally gives it up.

Anyway, Loki is an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but his screen time in the Thor films have been rather limited overall.

More from Movies

Look, I get it, Thor is the main character of the movies and yes, Loki does play sizable roles in the events of both films, even with his limited amount of screen time.

I get that, I understand that, but listen, he can do more.

Throughout the 3 MCU films in which Loki has been featured, he’s displayed cunning, a skill for monologue, a wide variety of schemes and a great deal of determination.

You know what that sounds like to me? The characteristics of someone who should be the star of their very own movie and not just any movie, oh no, I want to see Loki as the star of a heist film.

Rationalizing

A lot of people have been clamoring for the MCU to experiment more with their movies. After all, a majority of the films stick to a relatively standard formula. The movies often even have very similar scores and color palettes.

All of which makes sense. These movies take place in the same universe after all and it makes an exceeding amount of sense for a movie studio to follow an insanely lucrative formula when hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars are at stake.

Despite this, Marvel Studios has made a concerted effort to experiment with their films in recent years. The obvious examples being Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy  movies and Dr. Strange (sort of).

So, here’s my question, who in the Nine Realms doesn’t enjoy a good heist film?

Survey Says… Nobody.

While Ant-Man was sort of a heist film, it was really a superhero movie that had a heist in it, if that makes sense.

What I want is a true heist film, that just so happens to have super powered beings in it.

So, here is my pitch.

The Pitch

My Loki heist film would take place after whatever happens in Avenger 4.

The remaining Avengers (the only one I’m assuming is alive is Thor, though he won’t factor into the movie) have successfully locked down all the Infinity Stones, there is absolutely no chance anyone can get them.

Thor is the King of Asgard and is enjoying a peaceful reign there.

Loki is of course as power-hungry as usual and without Thanos around, there’s a power vacuum that he intends to fill.

His only problem is that despite his cunning and resourcefulness, nobody really trusts him, he is also without funds and lacks the physical strength to intimidate anyone to his cause.

Fortunately, he learns of the existence of the Kree Nega-Bands, which gift their wearer with the abilities to fly, gives them super strength and to absorb and manipulate physical energy.

Unfortunately, he also learns that they are in an insanely secure facility on the Kree homeworld.

So, he does what anyone else would do in this situation. He assembles a team to pull off the ultimate heist, which they obviously do, despite twists and turns along the way.

The movie ends with one of his team members asking what they should do next. To which Loki gleefully applies: “Oh, I have an idea”.

So, what did you think? Do you think Marvel should make a Loki heist movie? Do you think Loki should target a different weapon? Let me know in the comments.
