Gotham casts The Flash’s Peyton List for Poison Ivy

Gotham recast the Poison Ivy character for the third time, bringing in Mad Men and The Flash’s Peyton List.

Yes, that is correct. Rest assured, no click-bait being committed. FOX’s interpretation of the DC Comics character Poison Ivy – has been recast yet again on Gotham.

Clare Foley played the character of Ivy as a minor while in season 3–4 Maggie Geha took on the role of older Ivy with creepy, naïve and immature sensibilities despite her growth spurt from exposure to one of the experimental human subjects from Indian Hill (via skin–to–skin contact).

Peyton List (The Flash, Tomorrow People, Mad Men) will take over from Geha when Ivy returns to the show early in 2018.

The last time she appeared, after she ditched Penguin in the episode ‘Pax Penguina’ at the Iceberg Lounge and held a man hostile in a store with her laced perfume to salvage what appeared to be a concoction of different vials of esoteric origin. The last scene saw Ivy in the second episode ‘The Fear Reaper’ of this season ‘A Dark Knight’ ingest the vials and undergoing a weird mutation.

The producers of Gotham released this statement:

"“In the continuing evolution of Poison Ivy’s origin story, Ivy Pepper has been transformed once again taking another step toward becoming the Ivy we know from the comics. Dangerous. A live wire of crazy energy. She’ll set her sights on Gotham intent on making the city her own green paradise.”"

According to this statement from the producers of Gotham, it seems that Ivy will progress further into her eco-terrorist roots and match her comic-book counterpart (well at least the Post-Crisis iteration of the character).

Like Bruce Wayne, Ivy’s arc seems a bit rushed, but hopefully the character is given time to flourish.

Bryan Wynbrandt, one of the executive producers of Gotham revealed to ComicBoook.com after the second episode aired that:

"“We’re not going to go full green, but we are going to transform Ivy in a way that we think the audience won’t expect, but that is pushing her development to becoming the Ivy that everyone knows from the comic book.”"
