It sounds like Marvel Studios has more than enough films planned for the future.

By the release of Avengers 4 in 2019, Marvel Studios will have produced 22 films since 2008. This is a massive feat, to say the least, and its one that many studios would have never attempted for a single franchise. As a result, some might be tempted to think that the studio would slow down in the coming years. If they do, they would be wrong.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige caught up with Vanity Fair for the studio’s 10th anniversary. During the interview, he confirmed that the studio has 20 films planned after Avengers 4. He also added they’ll be different from what audiences have seen:

"“…22 movies in, and we’ve got another 20 movies on the docket that are completely different from anything that’s come before—intentionally.”"

More from Movies

The prospect of 20 new Marvel movies after Phase Three is definitely exciting. Feige once mentioned in passing that the studio has films planned through 2028. Now, we know that this will indeed be the case.

Aside from actually getting all of these films, one of the most exciting things for fans will be trying to guess what these productions are. Sequels to existing franchises like Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy are pretty much guaranteed. However, there are sure to be a slew of movies based on brand new properties.

In the same Vanity Fair piece, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that Marvel Studios has the rights to 7,000 characters, and he hopes that they’ll get to use them all. With this, the number of film possibilities is practically infinite.
