5 predictions for Star Wars: The Last Jedi
5. Luke will turn to the Dark side
The trailers and marketing for The Last Jedi have made it very clear that the sequel will go a darker route. Even the Star Wars logo has switched its classic yellow tint for a more menacing red. And to top it all off, nothing screams “dark” than having the phrase “the last” in your title. That’s right, we’re going full Dark side in Episode 8.
Many fans have speculated that Rey (Daisy Ridley) will be one who turns to the Dark side, but I think otherwise. Most trailers tend to deceive the audience as to not spoil any twists in the movie. So that final shot in The Last Jedi’s trailer could well be a fassad. Rey also doesn’t seem like the type of person who’d suddenly switch sides, especially to an evil, darker side. It’s more plausible that Luke Skywalker goes down the path. More so, after all he’s gone through post Ben Solo becoming Kylo Ren.
After Kylo Ren and his Knights of Ren massacred Luke’s Jedi school, Luke resided to Ach-To in solitude. Now, if General Leia is to die in The Last Jedi, then that is enough motivation for Luke to bury the Jedi code. Especially after discovering that Rey is even more powerful than Kylo Ren himself. Fear may bring the once-Jedi master to the Dark side.
