The Punisher is officially returning to Netflix for Season 2!

Marvel’s The Punisher may not have garnered the buzz that many of its predecessors received, but it still struck a chord with fans and viewers. As a result, it looks like we haven’t seen the last of Frank Castle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel announced through its Twitter account that The Punisher has officially been renewed for a second season. Neither plot details nor a release date were included in the announcement:

Season one of the series began with Castle lying low and trying to put his troubled past behind him. However, he is soon thrown back into the world of vigilantism after discovering a far-reaching conspiracy that links to his military service.

Along the way, we got to meet some interesting new characters like David “Micro” Lieberman and Billy Russo. We also saw the return of established characters like Karen Page.

Aside from Jon Bernthal’s performance as the titular anti-hero, the series received particular praise for its handling of PTSD. The show faced the topic head-on and explored it through different characters. It also shined a crucial light on what it’s like to be a veteran in today’s society. On top of all this, it even touched on the gun control debate that’s currently being had in our country.
