Marvel movies have amazing upside after Disney and Fox’s deal

Disney and Fox officially struck a deal. What will that mean for Marvel?

For the past few weeks, 20th Century Fox attempted to create a deal that would send the rights of the X-Men, Deadpool, and the Fantastic Four over to Disney and Marvel, which became official on Thursday. What does that mean? It means that we could possibly get all of the random team-ups and stories that we’ve craved for years.

The Marvel Universe isn’t what it once was when certain teams would usually only interact during big events. Now, X-Men are Avengers, Spider-Man taught at Xavier’s school, and Beast was with the Inhumans. With this deal in place, there are a ton of collaborations that we could see. Here are some that would make for amazing movies.

Wolverine and the Avengers

After years we can finally get a team where Wolverine is on the Avengers with Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, and Hawkeye. Not just because he’s Wolverine, but because of the relationships he has with certain Avnegers. Spider-Man and Steve Rogers hate that Wolverine kills. Heck, Cap even yelled at Wolverine saying he’d never be an Avenger.

After working with Logan, Spider-Man and Cap grew to respect Logan and more than accept him as a teammate. Of all the people that could join the Avengers, Wolverine is easily the one the fans are looking forward to more than anyone. Plus, we’d finally get to see Wolverine and Hulk fight.

The Relationship between T’Challa and Storm

This was one of the best and quickest marriages in Marvel. T’Challa and Storm didn’t have any interaction until around 2005 making their relationship seem a bit forced due to a lack of background. Even though Marvel created a mini series that explained when and how they met, it still wasn’t enough to really make their marriage make a lot of sense. Despite all of that, they definitely compliment each other. Storm and T’Challa are both strong characters who need a strong spouse.

There were times when Storm would call T’Challa out when he was being stubborn. On the other side, T’Challa helped show Storm what it was like to be more than just a superhero. Storm was always looked at as a goddess, but now she was a goddess and royalty. It’s actually a shame their relationship didn’t work out.

Deadpool and Spider-Man’s bromance

This is the buddy comedy we’ve wanted and never knew we needed. I may not agree with Deadpool going to Disney because his solo movies should remain rated R, but PG-13 would work perfectly with Spider-Man. Especially since it worked in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

Deadpool and Spider-Man are two of the funniest and entertaining characters in all of comics books. Despite their differences when it comes to dealing with problems (Deadpool opts for a deadlier approach). It’s actually a tragedy that we haven’t seen the two of them together in a live-action setting. The banter alone would be worth the price of admission.

Carol Danvers and Rogue

One of the things that really bothered me about the original X-Men Trilogy is Rogues lack of super strength and flight. I’m certain that the writers could have easily found a way to give Rogue those powers, but the story of Rogue being used by Mystique would have been infinitely better. In this story, a rivalry between Ms. Marvel and Rogue could have been developed. Despite Rogue redeeming herself time and time again, Carol Danvers will never fully forgive her. This remains one of the more underappreciated rivalries in comics.

Doom vs. the Marvel Universe

One of the biggest acquisitions Marvel would get is in this deal is Dr. Doom. Doom was the premier villain in Marvel comics for over a decade doing battle with his nemeses The Fantastic Four. After he stopped fighting the Fantastic Four (Doom told Ben Grimm that he outgrew him) Doom started to really put his foot forward and start attacking the world.

More from Movies

Doom attempted to take over Wakanda in a series called Doomwar. A fight that brought in the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Deadpool (all three 20th Century Fox properties), and War Machine. Then there are the multiple times he and Dr. Strange have fought over who should Sorcerer Supreme and his attempt to harness the power of the Asgardians. Most recently, Doom made himself God over the multi-verse and recreated it in his image in Secret Wars.

Fox just can’t seem to get Dr. Doom right. Will Marvel fix this?

Avenger vs. X-Men

Last, but certainly not least, the battle between the two premier Marvel Comics teams. The X-men fought the Avengers to protect their mutant messiah Hope Summers. The Avengers wanted to take Hop into custody so she wouldn’t be possessed by the Phoenix force. Like most crossover events, there was a ton of fighting and great action scenes. An Avengers vs. X-Men movie would blow any comic book project out of the water. The anticipation alone would be nothing like anything we’ve seen from any movie. We’d get battles like Captain America vs. Gambit, Iron Man vs. Magneto, Red Hulk vs. Colossus, and so many other matchups that would be a comic book fans dream to see on the big screen.

Then, there are the storylines. Why are Beast and Wolverine fighting on the Avengers side? Is Cyclops wrong and going too far? And these are just two of the storylines.  Whatever the deal is that Fox and Disney would have to come up with to make both sides happy, this movie alone would make so much money and make so many fans happy that they’d wonder why this wasn’t done sooner.

The deal between Fox and Disney is something comic book fans have been hoping for since Nick Fury talked about the Avengers Initiative. So many years of hoping and wishing for Marvel’s Mightiest Mutants to fight or team-up with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. And it’s not just comic book fans. Fans of comic book movies will love this deal. I can’t wait for the first appearance of Wolverine in an Avengers movie.
