Marvel Cinematic Universe: Wolverine will flourish after Disney-Fox deal

With Disney and Fox’s deal completed, it will allow for Wolverine to flourish in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Wolverine is the best there is at what he does. And what he does isn’t very nice. That phrase refers to his ability to fight and kill. But there is something else that Wolverine is one of the best at; being popular. He has excited fans with his vicious attacks, never quit attitude, and ruthlessness. As time went on, we learned more about Logan and who he was besides a killing machine. This made him a deeper character instead of just a fighter with a bad attitude. They haven’t even scratched the service of Logan’s past. That may change with the upcoming deal between 20th Century Fox and Marvel.

Fans of Wolverine have always wondered what if Logan was part of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Could the Wolverine solo movies have been better? Would Wolverine have made an appearance in any of the Avengers movies? With Marvel acquiring the rights to Wolverine, there are a plethora of ideas that Marvel could use involving Marvel’s most popular mutant.

Telling Logan’s story

My biggest gripe with Wolverine in the movies is the lack of time focused on his story. In all of the X-Men and solo Wolverine movies, we were only given glimpses of his past. The things that make Wolverine a great character in the comic were never revealed. For example, we never really got to see Logan in Japan. The Wolverine was not a good representation of Logan’s time in Japan. Japan is where he fell in love, learned to be a samurai, and was used by the Hand and also Hydra (way before Enemy Of The State). And this is only the tip of the iceberg in the Wolverine story. Imagine what we could do with more time.

Netflix is the perfect place for Logan. A place where the story of Logan can be told over an extended period of time. Fans can see how his parents really died, who he was before his mutant powers kick in, and all of the horrible and violent things he did before he was a hero. Daniel Way did a fantastic job showing a different side of Logan. The guy who was brainwashed, tortured, and tricked into doing things that would make the Joker cringe. A single two-hour movie every two or more years isn’t enough time to tell the story of a complex character. But 12 one hour episodes every other year is perfect.

Logan and Cap in World War 2

Logan has been around since the late 1800’s and has fought in both world wars. But something casual fans may not know is that Wolverine fought alongside Captain America and Nick Fury in World War 2. He wasn’t Wolverine then, he was just Logan (unlike X-Men: Wolverine Origins when he was still James Howlett). Logan didn’t use his then bone claws and no one knew what a mutant was back then. It was a mystery how Logan would heal from all his fatal injuries. But, nevertheless, Logan would heal up and keep fighting.

I don’t think there is a fan of comic book movies that wouldn’t want to see a movie with Captain America and Logan even if Logan never popped his claws. The two of them together is gold. Cap may have killed during wartime, but Logan is a killer and more aggressive than Cap likes.  Because their personalities are so different, watching them clash makes for an amazing story. This is also the time period where Logan first met Nick Fury (he had both eyes then) and when Logan later also trained current Avenger Black Widow.

Wolverine vs. Hulk: The fight we’ve waited to see

Wolverine’s most vicious rivals may be Sabretooth, Omega Red, and Lady Deathstrike, but there are some heroes that fans would love to see Wolverine fight. With Wolverine jumping into the MCU, we could see some dream fights that eventually lead to team-ups. We could see battles like Wolverine vs. Spider-Man and Wolverine vs. Punisher. But the fight between Wolverine and The Incredible Hulk is the fight we want to see.

More from Movies

A fight between Hulk and Wolverine would be the perfect place to introduce Wolverine. These two have fought dozens of times. While it may seem like Hulk should win this fight easily, but Wolverine has actually beaten the Hulk on more than a few occasions. Hulk has the size and strength advantage, but Logan makes up for it in speed and fighting skill. It also doesn’t hurt that he has unbreakable bones and claws. Seeing the two of them in battle could turn out being the most memorable fight in movie history. It would combine the pure ferocity of the Hulk with Wolverine’s animalistic fighting style. Eventually, they’d put their differences aside and fight a force only they could defeat. I vote they fight Weapon H.

Enemy of the State

This is one of the premier Wolverine stories. We bore witness to what would happen if Wolverine became a villain and it was glorious. Not just anyone could scare the super-powered community so much that they were told to only go out in pairs. S.H.I.E.L.D. even shut down the Baxter Building (home of the Fantastic Four) to be cautious of Wolverine getting in there, killing them, and taking Reed’s inventions to Hydra.

This story has pieces every hero. The X-Men, Avengers, Daredevil, Spider-Man, Elektra, Nick Fury, Hydra, and The Hand. This could be the movie that brings them all together like Avengers: Infinity War. A movie with multiple parts that also involves multiple heroes. If not a full out Avengers movie, it would make a great solo trilogy for Wolverine.  Plus, his final fight against The Gorgon (Not the Inhuman) would make for a great final battle.

There are tons of ways to bring Logan into the MCU. I didn’t even get into him being a member of the Avengers or The Old Man Logan Saga. Marvel will flourish in the MCU more than any other Fox owned character. I can’t until the first piece of news telling us where we will see Wolverine first.
