After seeing Star Wars: The Last Jedi, here are five early predictions for the third and final installment in the trilogy.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi has finally been released in theaters and the newest installment in the saga is a real game-changer. Star Wars fans over-analyzed every shot of footage that was released leading up to the film’s release and formed their own fan theories. Ultimately, most of these theories turned out being false as The Last Jedi was a truly unpredictable movie.

After watching The Last Jedi, it will be hard to predict the direction Episode IX will go. Will it be more like Return of the Jedi and end the trilogy in a safe way? Or will it continue the hot streak that The Last Jedi started and be bold and surprising? Either way, I have some ridiculously early but plausible predictions for the final installment of the saga – let’s break it down.

5. Luke Skywalker will appear as a Force Ghost

Luke Skywalker, the hero of the original trilogy, ultimately met his fate in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and peacefully passed away, becoming one with the Force. Now, he will be able to communicate with Master Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi and even his father, Anakin Skywalker via the Force, but he will also be able to communicate with living Force users such as Rey.

There’s a very high chance that Luke returns as a Force ghost in Episode IX. Not only has Mark Hamill expressed his disappointment about leaving the franchise so early, but it makes so much sense story-wise. Also, The Last Jedi really expanded the viewer’s perception of what the Force is and what it can do. Therefore, seeing a Force ghost Luke Skywalker communicating with Rey about how Force ghosts exist would be a really cool moment. On top of this, don’t be surprised if Yoda or any other Jedi show up as Force ghosts at the end of the movie, similar to Return of the Jedi.
