Best superhero movie moments of 2017, from Wonder Woman to Logan

2) Logan – Laura finally speaks

There’s no denying that Dafne Keen’s portrayal of the young X-23 was incredible and one of the highlights of Logan. Her relationship with the aging X-Man was a joy to behold and it brought a new dimension to his character in his final moments.

Logan was filled with great moments, but one of the more subtle highlights was the scene in which Laura spoke for the first time. Wolverine had been traveling with this young girl for two thousand miles without her uttering a word to him, then suddenly, she beings screaming at him in Spanish. It’s a wonderful scene as Logan is taken aback by the young girl speaking and it’s here that we finally learn Laura’s motivations in the movie.

1) Wonder Woman – No Man’s Land

There could only be one choice for the best superhero movie moment of the year — the legendary No Man’s Land scene from Wonder Woman. Incredibly, this scene was nearly cut from the film at the request of Warner Bros., but Patty Jenkins fought to keep it in, and she certainly delivered.

Setting Wonder Woman in the First World War was a stroke of genius that allowed Diana to witness the true atrocity of war. She discovered firsthand the horrors of trench warfare and after a request from an innocent German lady, she finally decides to do something about it.

We’re treated to the single most inspirational scene of the year featuring the lone hero stepping out into the open plains and facing the might of the German army. It’s also the first time we see Diana in her full costume and it clearly inspires her comrades.

Though there have been some great superhero movies this year, none of them delivered a scene as masterful as this one.
