Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp to have Captain America: Civil War fallout
Marvel’s Ant-Man sequel will follow up on Scott Lang’s Captain America: Civil War appearance.
In 2015, Marvel introduced Scott “Ant-Man” Lang in Ant-Man. This character was brought to life, from Hank Pym’s recruitment, and became the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s tiniest hero and, technically, its biggest. It made for a unique addition to this Disney-owned world in 2015.
Ant-Man made his second appearance in Captain America: Civil War, showcasing the ability to become Giant-Man. He assisted Steve Rogers’ group of Avengers in their airport brawl, and was last seen being broken out of prison to close this movie.
Following Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp will become the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to hit theaters, after the potentially-impactful events of this all-star team-up. It returns Paul Rudd’s character to his standalone space, one that director Peyton Reed began promoting, according to ComicBookMovie.com. This included the potential fallout from Captain America: Civil War and his love for the Giant-Man version of Lang:
"“The events of Captain America: Civil War gave us something clear, which is: what was Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne’s reaction to Scott having taken this technology out into the world in Civil War? We had a lot of fun playing around with that. And we play with size and scale a lot. I love the idea of Giant-Man.”"

Reed only mentioned Civil War. Depending on where Infinity War lands in the complicated MCU timeline, could Pym and Hope van Dyne show greater concern about the potential universal use of the Ant-Man technology, rather than the events of Civil War?
If so, Pym could take the suit away from Lang, leaving Hope as the Wasp and the lone suit-wearing hero, temporarily. Of course the movie title includes “Ant-Man,” so that might not last for long. We could see a story of Scott’s attempt to win back the suit, eventually teaming with Hope to avenge the movie’s main villain. Would this make the sequel a Hope-centric story?
