16. Falcon

Falcon begins the move away from supporting characters. However, he fits the bill just as much as the previous ones on the list.

Sam Wilson’s Marvel Comics role dives farther than just Falcon. He dons the Captain America suit and shield, which makes him the first African-American superhero to use his alter ego. Depending on the Marvel Cinematic Universe future of Chris Evans’ Captain America, could he eventually wear the Red, White and Blue?

That’s a long way off, though, if it ever happens.

Before Avengers: Infinity War, Falcon’s role has been a sidekick to Captain America. He proved to be loyal and trustworthy to the man that got him in the superhero game, from Captain America: The Winter Soldier to Civil War. Maybe more than ever, too, with Cap freeing Sam and others from The Raft.

Other than Sam’s Air Force background, he received little to no focus. Similar to Scalet Witch and War Machine, they are along for the ride and help the leaders of the Avengers. Maybe that changes, especially if Steve Rogers’ shield gets passed down. We may not know this for about 16 months, when Avengers 4 hits theaters in May 2019.
