DC has recently greenlit a lot of solo movies for characters that cinema audiences are already familiar with. However, one of their most famous heroes has never even appeared on the big screen — Green Arrow. Playboy-turned-archer Oliver Queen made his DC Comics debut in 1941. Since then, he has been at the heart of some of DC’s best-known storylines. Thus, he would make a great addition to their film universe.
Oliver may not have headlined his own movie yet, but he has been a staple of TV for 12 years. Justin Hartley donned the green hood on Smallville and was a regular on the show’s final four seasons. But in 2012, the character finally got the chance to shine when Stephen Amell brought him to life on Arrow.
But with superheroes like Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg finally receiving their own solo movies, it’s about time that the Green Arrow got his as well. As the DCEU often focuses on aliens, metahumans and CGI monsters, Arrow could bring us more grounded and realistic storylines. This could reinvigorate the DCEU and give us a much-needed break from its grim alien-centric storylines.
Arguably the most iconic DC superhero to have never headlined his own film, its time for Green Arrow to target film theaters. He would not fail this big screen!
