5. Doctor Strange

Sure, I know what you are thinking “but Doctor Strange come out in 2016!” Yes, it did, but its home release came in March. Doctor Strange has the lowest yield of DVD sales, both units sold and revenue. This may be an unfair comparison since DVDs are slowly becoming trivial in comparison to Blu-ray and digital. In addition, all of those other MCU titles have many years of sales on them. Still, one cannot help but notice this. In fact, Doctor Strange is the lowest performing home release for the MCU. This is nothing bad to say on Marvel’s behalf. Looking back it does feel the marketing on the home release was quite absent.

The real reason lies in bad timing. After Doctor Strange debuted at the number one spot it fell each week to another big release. First, it was Moana, then Sing and finally Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Therefore, can you be surprised? All movies the family can pick up for their kids’ Easter Baskets.
