Avengers: Kevin Feige says Infinity War will have deaths, but who?
2. Drax
The death of Drax shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. After all, Drax the Destroyer’s sole purpose, his dying mission, is to kill the intergalactic being. And what better way than to go out in the blaze of glory in front of your superhero peers? Of course to the actor playing Drax it might not be so glorious. In the MCU the role is being played by former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista who, like most MCU actors, have played it coy about their contracts.
The reason Drax makes the list of death is, in the event he does go toe-to-toe with Thanos he’ll likely get defeated. This will likely happen as a way to pay homage to the Marvel Comics story arch, The Thanos Imperative. The 2010 story found Drax and Thanos going at, the former would be pushed by rage and vengeance and rush into battle though he was warned not to. Unfortunately for Drax and the rest of the galaxy, that victory would be short-lived. According to Comic Vine, Thanos would regenerate and murder Drax.
"”Thanos slowly and painfully reformed, having been barred from Death once again. Drax attacked a second time but this time Thanos did the vaporizing, claiming that his reasoning was not a personal issue of revenge.”"
While there will be a Guardians of the Galaxy 3 we may not get a chance to see Drax again. Let’s hope when he goes out it’s with a bang.
