8. The Huntress

The Huntress is a DC heroine that saw her popularity skyrocket over the years. One reason is her association with Barbra Gordon and Lura Lance as two-thirds of Birds of Prey. However, before forming the super tiro, Huntress was born out of an affair into a family of Mafiosos as Helena Bertinelli. One night at dinner when Helena was just eight-years-old, she watched a gunman shoot and kill her mother, step-father, and brother. While under the care of her relative she would experience nightmares.

There is where she would be taught that the only way to end them was to kill those who killed her family. Helena trained with her cousin and would eventually become the vigilante, Huntress. She would go on to fight crime in Gotham leaving behind a bloody trail of criminals. At one point she and Nightwing were a thing and she had a short-lived stint as Batgirl. Her murdering ways became unbearable and often put her at odds with Batman and Nightwing. She would somewhat change her ways and become a little less reckless, but her skills did lead her to joining the intelligence agency SPYRAL.

While we have yet to see her depicted on the big screen, she has made a couple of appearances on CW’s Arrow. The Italian vigilante debuted in Season 1 Ep. 7: Muse of Fire and was played by Jessica De Gouw. While she didn’t have ties to Gotham, the portrayal of her character even down to the suite was pretty spot on. Let’s hope we’ll get see her sometime in the future as part of the DCEU, specifically in a Birds of Prey film.
