7. Barbara Gordon

Another Batman disciple makes the list, but she’s arguably the post popular of them all, not named Robin. Depending on which story you follow, you’ll come to learn that Barbara always had a thing for fighting crime much like her father Commissioner James Gordon. Barbara’s heroic nature earned her way into the Batman family after saving Bruce Wayne’s life. She would be the third sidekick Batman would have after the departure of Dick Grayson and death of Jason Todd, however, her career as Batgirl didn’t last long. Barbara would feel out of place as a powerless hero among the powerful and retired. Unfortunately she was shot and paralyzed by the Joker.

Without her legs, Barbara was lost, but she found a new career in heroism as Oracle. Under her new secret identity, Barbra would use her gifted intelligence to help fight crime as a hacker. She would often assist Batman as the woman in the chair, but her calling came when she formed the trio of women, Birds of Prey.

Barbara’s popularity came from her perseverance as she was able to overcome a horrific event. DC, however, would get her back on her feet (literally) and into the Bat suit once more. Barbara ’s popularity was so great that WB decided to develop a solo movie for the caped heroine. While news has been scarce, or bad there’s still a buzz around the prospect of having a Batgirl movie.
