4. Blackbat

This DC character is not just the most kick-ass heroine, she’s the most feared and skilled ass kicker in all of DC. Cassandra Cain’s story is made for Hollywood, she’s the daughter of two of the worlds most feared assassins, both of whom trained Batman at one point or another. David Cain is her father and her mother is arguably the most gifted fighters in all of comics, Lady Shiva.

Cassandra was born to be the perfect bodyguard for Ra’s al Ghul, she was deprived of speech by her father in order to ensure she could master movement and sensory as her first skill. Her mother had become a murdering anti-hero and Cassandra was deprived of a childhood isolated from the world thanks to her father. When she was eight-years-old, her father sent her on her first mission where she would make her first kill. Because of her uncanny ability to read thoughts she was able to empathize with her victim thus forcing her to turn away from her father’s ruthless ways and live on her own.

After many years of living on her own, the guilt-ridden Cassandra moved to Gotham. She would be recruited by Oracle as one of her agents and would even defeat her own father as he tried to take the life of gym Jim Gordon. Her heroism got her recognized by Batman and she became Batgirl. Although she couldn’t communicate verbally or written, she excelled as hero. Under Batman she would continue to grow as a fighter and was the first and only person to defeat Lady Shiva. Cassandra would continue her career as Batgirl until moved on to Batman Incorporated as Blackbat protecting Hong Kong.
