Marvel Cinematic Universe: 20 best actors, ranked

9. Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Nick Fury is the glue that holds the Avengers together. Without him making the tough decisions The Avengers wouldn’t have come together at the end of Marvel’s The Avengers. Actually, without him there are no Avengers in general. Nick Fury is maybe the most important piece for the Avengers. Whenever the Avengers need a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier to save people from a crashing country (Avengers: Age of Ultron) or using Phil Coulson’s death to motivate them, Nick Fury was right there. If Nick Fury was around during Captain America: Civil War, The Avenger might not have dissembled. Samuel L. Jackson was the only person who could pull off the role of Nick Fury.
Jackson is known as one of the best actors in Hollywood for good reason. In order to play Nick Fury, you have to be able to play a hardened character with heart. A person who has no problem being the martyr, do the unthinkable to win a war, and the person everyone gets mad at in order to get a goal accomplished.
Jackson was a perfect selection. Who else but him could be a sarcastic jerk while in what looks like his deathbed and still give Captain America orders? Who else could order Tony Stark around and make it believable? Nobody but Jackson. He may not pop up in everyone’s minds immediately, but if you think about how important Nick Fury is to the MCU, you’ll quickly understand my point.
