LUCIFER: L-R: Lauren German and Tom Ellis in the ÒBoo Normal/Once Upon a TimeÓ two-hour bonus episode of LUCIFER airing Monday, May 28 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. CR: FOX

The two-hour special contained two magnificent episodes that expanded on the characters of Lucifer.

Fans of Lucifer were shocked when Fox canceled the show. Prior to the announcement, Lucifer was preparing to air its season three finale, which promised to end the season with a massive cliffhanger. The showrunners decided to the end the season in such a way to hopefully secure a spot in Fox’s slate with a fourth season renewal, but of course we all know how that story ended.

Unfortunately the devil will not be making a comeback, at least for now, but that didn’t stop Lucifer from delighting us with a two-hour special with the extra episodes “Boo Normal” and “Once Upon A Time.”

Boo Normal

Like most Lucifer episodes, “Boo Normal” and “Once Upon A Time” can only be described as excellent. Especially the latter one, since it involved an alternate reality narrated by God himself. Nevertheless, a lot of great things happened in Ella’s episode, “Boo Normal.”

Here we learned that Ella can see ghosts, but not just any ghost (more on that later). After Ella gets a call from a family member saying that her brother moved back to Detroit, she ponders if she should do that as well. Lucifer and Chloe don’t want her to go, but they still assure Ella that they respect her decision nonetheless. That’s when the ghost appears.

Ella reveals that she’s been communicating with this entity since she was a child. The ghost, though, promised Ella a long time ago that it would go away if she moved to Los Angeles.

There are some hilarious bits here and there of Ella talking to herself, which only makes Chloe worry more about her friend. The episode ends with Ella staying in Los Angeles and finally telling Chloe why she’s been acting so weirdly, as well as with the revelation that the ghost is actually Azrael, the Angel of Death.
