Not all great comic book movies are from Marvel or DC. Which ones should viewers tune into?
Comic book movies have become an essential part of movies. A lot of times they start the summer movie blockbusters. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and DC Extended Universe (DCEU) have been juggernauts at the box office and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Just recently, Avengers: Infinity War passed the two billion dollar mark worldwide. These two franchises may be the most popular, but they aren’t the only comic book movies around.
There have been multiple comic book movies. One of the greats is Scott Pilgrim VS the World. A movie that starred Michael Cera and was absolutely amazing. Adding comedy, a love story, and some dorky video game references. It even has a Chris Evans cameo. There are a ton of comic book movies just waiting to be discovered. What I have for you are comic book movies every fan should have in their collection.

You can’t mention a comic book movie and not mention Watchmen, which came out before it joined the DC banner. From the director that brought you 300 gave us a movie about the life of superheroes and how it’s not as simple as it may seem. How would the government react to having super powered beings? They would most likely use them as weapons. What about the “heroes”? Would they all be good people? How long until hubris sets in and they realize there’s nothing anyone can do to stop them? Watchmen shines a light on all of that and more.
To top it off, Watchmen didn’t necessarily have a bad ending, but it was definitely a depressing one.
Watchmen had an amazing cast that did a good job representing the characters from the comic book. A tough job considering the source material. Even with a movie that’s around three hours long, there still wasn’t enough time to catch everything. The essence of the movie still remained.
Some people don’t like politics in their movies. While Watchmen had a lot of political points, it was done in a way that wasn’t obnoxious or overbearing.
