1. Bad Harley sets up for Suicide Squad 2
It’s been reported that Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey film forced the DCEU to move the filming date the Suicide Squad sequel. With that said how exactly will Harley Quinn end up in Belle Reve? A shallow explanation won’t cut it. The solution is to have the events of Birds of Prey as the catalyst for her Belle Reve return. Just like that, the DCEU has a linear connection and doesn’t need to explore the reason in the film, instead, it can focus on the other neglected characters.
Additionally, Suicide Squad could feature a changing of the guard like the comics. We could see Harley Quinn take over as the leader. Nevertheless, Harley Quinn’s return to Belle Reve should reflect the events of Birds of Prey.

If Harley Quinn is the villain in Birds of Prey the benefits are endless. As the villain, Harley will get to shine without taking anything away from the heroes. Moreover, the DCEU would have a big bad that fans can get invested in something that worked for Man of Steel and Wonder Woman. It makes sense to have Harley Quinn in a Birds of Prey movie but let’s not make her part of the team. She needs to be the villain.
