Review: Spider-Gwen (2015) #34 concludes the run
Spider-Gwen reaches its finale with issue #34. Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez put together a nice run. Check out our review.
“The Life of Gwen Stacy” concludes as does this Spider-Gwen run with this new issue. Since the character’s creation, I’ve been a fan of the risk that Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez took. Earth-65 might not be the main focus in the Marvel Universe, but they took it and made it their own with Gwen Stacy.
This issue focuses heavily on Gwen and Captain Stacy. The two have been through a lot recently and they’re determined to keep pushing through. Captain Stacy will always have his daughter’s back and he understands why she has to try to keep helping people.
With her secret being out, Gwen doesn’t have much to hide from these days. Her friends want to tour, and her being a “ghost” is even mentioned. That plays right into Marvel teasing her as Ghost Spider.

Spider-Gwen #34 dives into the character’s state of mind and there’s always a lot to learn from that. They don’t use the line “with great power comes great responsibility,” but it’s always lingering even on Earth-65. The writing and art have consistently fit well with each other and they did something unique with it, which is appreciated.

Jason Latour, Robbi Rodriguez, Rico Renzi and everyone else who worked on this book should be proud of the risk they took and how it turned out. I’ve enjoyed this run, even through it’s ups and downs. Even the team admits that is wasn’t perfect in a note at the end, but it was fun to tag along on this ride.

Whether she returns as Spider-Gwen or Ghost Spider, she’s a compelling character and I look forward to it. We will get to see her in Spider-Geddonthis fall, so there is that coming soon.
