Birds of Prey: Did synopsis hint at a possible villain?
A possible Birds of Prey synopsis leaked online. Could the synopsis hold the key to the possible villain?
Margot Robbie and Cathy Yan teamed up to bring fans of DC something we’ve been waiting for, a live-action Birds of Prey film. Bumblebee screenwriter, Christina Hodson pinned the script that follows a group of DC heroines teaming together to fight crime. Recent news surrounding the crop of heroes has floated around the web. Harley Quinn would be joined by Black Canary, Huntresses, Renee Montoya, and Cassandra Cain. The villain was thought to be Penguin, but that is no longer the case. Instead, we learned that Birds of Prey would feature a villain never before depicted in a Batman film.
According to Discussing Film, this leaked Birds of Prey synopsis may hold the key as to who the villain may be:
"“After splitting up with The Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroes – Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya – come together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord.”"

Although the villain’s name remains a mystery there’s some information that lends itself to at least one possibility. With the movie allegedly revolving around Cassandra Cain the villain that makes the most sense is David Cain.
Who is DC’s David Cain?
Reports promised a never-before-seen villain. In the comics, David Cain is no evil lord but he is one of Ras al Ghul’s deadliest assassins. He’s also the father, of Cassandra Cain. The evil warlord arc could be a modified version of the story that saw him as a trainer for Ras al Ghul League of Assassins. David spent years training young assassins, including his daughter.
At eight years old he took her on a mission where she made her first kill. The aftermath left Cassandra emotionally traumatized, so she ran away and eventually became a member of the Bat-family. Based on his comic book backstory it’s easy to modify David Cain to make him more of an “evil lord.” For what it’s worth, his comic book arc also ties him to Renee Montoya as well, albeit minimally. David framed Bruce Wayne and Sasha Bordeaux for the murder of Vesper Fairchild. Renee was one of the cops assigned to the case.
There hasn’t been a named linked to the film yet. Birds of Prey is expected to begin filming early 2019 with a 2020 release date. Until then we’ll anxiously wait for more news coming out the DCEU about Birds of Prey. Based on the synopsis, who do think the villain could be?
