Disney-Fox Merger: What about the MCU’s next big villain?

By now, if you’ve been paying attention to the entertainment news, you already know that Disney and 20th Century Fox have finally brokered a deal. For the total of $71.3 billion dollars, the House of Mouse has now built an additional wing to their ever-growing media mansion to include even more entertainment properties. Among those include X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and Deadpool.
Yes, that means characters originally owned by Marvel are about to come home. Yet with the potential of an Avengers Vs. X-Men crossover, a Spider-Man and Human Torch team-up, or Deadpool trying to sell Girl Scout cookies to Dr. Strange, there’s one thing I think that’s not receiving a lot of attention. This buy out now gives the Marvel Cinematic Universe their next big villain.
It’s no secret that when it’s come to super villains, the MCU hasn’t had that great of a track record. For every Loki or Thanos, there was always a Yellowjacket or Kaecilius. Moreover, with Loki dead as of Avengers: Infinity War, and Thanos likely about to buy the farm in Avengers 4, the MCU will need another major villain who can crossover into future cinematic installments, someone who can be an enemy for multiple heroes. Fortunately, Marvel now has access to some very notable–and dare I say better–villains who do precisely that. The question is, which one of them could or should be the major new villain of the MCU?
There are least four which come to mind, each of whom has a dominant presence in the Marvel Comics. Each of them also brings something unique to the table, and allows for the kind of complexity and high stakes modern comic book movie audiences crave. Best of all, they have enormous popularity with comic fans, who would love to see them on the big screen. Or, since of three of them have appeared in movies already, have them done right! In fact, the first is someone who has already been done exceptionally well on the big screen…
