Birds of Prey: 10 dual threat actresses we’d like to see play Black Canary

1. Rihanna

Although her acting career is just getting started, Rihanna has grown over the years. Moreover, she’s shown flexibility and versatility as an actress. Early on in her career, she played a military soldier, as Weps in Battleship. Despite the movie bombing at the box office Rihanna took a major step in proving she was a serious actress.

She then went on to voice Gratuity Tucci in the animated alien flick, Home. She also starred in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, as Bubble, see the scene above. Bubble proved just how talented an actress she was and she carried that same ability over to Ocean’s 8.

Moreover, Rihanna was excellent in her ability to recreate the infamous Psycho shower scene in Bates Motel. We’d image Black Canary would be a combination of a few characters Rihanna has already played. With the struggles of Dinah Lance, we think there’s a depth to the character ready to be exploited by Rihanna. 

Lady Gaga was allegedly offered a role in Birds of Prey, but she turned it down. So the studio could look to an actress with a fantastic voice, acting chops, and huge name for their weary Dinah Lance. There are plenty of talented actresses, some who can sing but there’s only one who is on Lady Gaga’s level, Rihanna. Still, the other women on the list will also make fantastic Black Canary’s.
