5. Righting the wrong of the first film

Nostalgic fans of the 90s series remember how the TV show explored the characters in their natural setting. The same format continues to this day. Unfortunately, the 2017 movie didn’t dig deep enough into the characters. We got glimpses of them in school and a campfire scene where they shared stories but it wasn’t enough. It was hard to buy into why we should root for these heroes when we barely knew who they were.

What we need to see from the second film is an in-depth look at the person out the suite. A perfect example on how to focus on a super-powered teenager is Spider-Man: Homecoming. While the Power Rangers film has to focus on five characters the concept is still the same.

These characters now share a unique bond that brought them together. Their journey from distant schoolmates to a group of people who share this secret bond has to be explored. How are they adjusting in their normal lives? What happened to their old friends? We wanted more of the Breakfast Club feel we got early on in the movie. Thankfully with the inclusion of Tommy Oliver, all of that can change.
