7. Mel Gibson

At 62-years young, Mel Gibson is a legendary action star, just like Tom Cruise. His resume dates back to the 80s where he made his claim to fame by starting in major blockbuster movies. Mel Gibson is known for so many roles, from the iconic Braveheart to Lethal Weapon. As a matter of fact, early news about the Green Lantern Corps script suggested that the film would take elements of Lethal Weapon as a buddy cop film in space. Why not just have Gibson play the role of Hal Jordan?

If you’re wondering about Gibson’s ability to play an action hero check out Bloodfather. If you want to see his swag check him out in Daddy’s Home 2. Gibson’s Hal Jordan works as someone who’s been there done that and looking to train his replacement. He’d work well as tough as nails mentor who’s ego still reigns supreme. Moreover, Gibson would bring something extra with his vast filmmaking intellect that earned him plenty of Academy Award Nominations and an Oscar. Getting Mel Gibson would be great for a one-off movie.

6. Bruce Willis

Okay, I know you think you know where this is going but hear me out. Identically to Gibson and Tom Cruise. Bruce Willis is an action star. Some may argue he’s the greatest action star of all-time. To have him play Hal Jordan is fitting. Imagine a savvy old veteran who’s still brash in his own right forced to team with a rookie, John Stewart. Grumpy funny Bruce Willis would make Green Lantern worthwhile.

Plus, Willis already played a role inspired by DC Comics as Frank in RED. And, it doesn’t appear that Willis plans on slowing down. He has the Reprisal coming out in 2018 and Glass January 18, 2019. If they want Hollywood royalty it doesn’t get better than Gibson and Willis, but there some other choices on our list who fit the bill.
