Beronica

Whether you ship them as an OTP or a BrOTP, B and V are one of the show’s most heart-warming pairings. Of course, they’re quite different people, and their relationship is quite tense at times. Ultimately, though, Betty and Veronica (Camila Mendes) always find their way back to each other.

After Betty’s “savage takedown” of her at Nick’s (Graham Phillips) party, Veronica initially gave Betty the cold shoulder. However, realizing how distressed Betty was, Veronica decided to give Betty the benefit of the doubt and very readily came to Betty’s aid against the Black Hood.

Veronica doesn’t get enough credit for it, but she is absolutely one of the most compassionate people on Riverdale, which is quite remarkable considering how she was raised.

Bughead

Riverdale‘s producers and writers love extravagant and sensationalistic scenes, which do work a lot the time. It’s a teen drama, after all. However, this scene was quite simple, like Betty and Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) first kiss in season one, and that’s why it was powerful.

Unlike their hotel scene in the season two finale, Betty and Jughead were palpably nervous in this scene, which ratcheted up the tension. They were acting like ordinary, awkward teenagers. Yet, they were also acting more mature than many adults.

Betty and Jug literally discussed their relationship and cleared the air on mistakes they had made, namely, Jug trying to protect Betty by shutting her out. (Betty, of course, did the same thing to Jug earlier in the season for the same reason.) They made the choice to take the next step in their relationship not because they’re trying to escape or ignore anything but because they wanted to build a future together.
