5. Brandon Routh

Before you roll your eyes, hear me out. Brandon Routh was a fantastic Superman in the 2006 movie, Superman Returns. His Superman was a continuation of Christopher Reeves’ classic take on the hero. Routh proved to be every bit as charming, funny, and heroic as any actor to ever dawn the red cape. As a matter of fact, I’m sure some fans may have wanted him to reprise the role in Man of Steel… right? Never mind that, the point is, Routh makes for an excellent choice. This is a chance for Walter Hamada to continue where Justice League left off.

Routh allows for the DCEU to tap into the Christopher Reeves like Superman for a new age. Additionally, this version of Clark could work well with Amy Adams’ Lois who is every bit her comic book counterpart. In fact, it could be Lois who insists that Clark stop blending in but stand out as a klutz.

Moreover, Routh currently plays another DC Comics superhero, Ray Palmer on CW’s Legends of Tomorrow. On Legends, Routh once again proves to be funny, charismatic, charming, all the qualities you look for in Superman. Moreover, Routh isn’t exactly a Hollywood star so he brings that fresh face-ness with him. We can guarantee that no other actor on this list has more experience playing Superman than Routh. Although, our next actor comes pretty close.
