Edge of Spider-Geddon #3 focuses on the story of Uncle Ben and Peter Parker both having spider powers. Here’s our spoiler-filled review.

With the announcement of Spider-Geddon, we knew that we’d be seeing a lot of Spider-Man characters who we don’t always get to see. In Edge of Spider-Geddon #3, we get a look at Spider-Ben. Clearly in this world, Uncle Ben is alive, but not so well in this instance. Peter already has his powers and he’s able to save Ben with a blood transfusion, which gives him spider powers.

Ben might have years on Peter, but he doesn’t quite have a handle on the whole superhero thing. Peter hasn’t been at it long, but he has a decent grasp on what one should and shouldn’t do as a hero. Ben doesn’t have quite as gentle of a touch and I love that we get to see him struggle with that. The story isn’t all good times just because Uncle Ben is still alive.

Edge of Spider-Geddon #3 is more of an introduction to how these two characters interact more than anything else. Unlike the second issue, we don’t see anyone come get Ben at the end of the issue. However, we do see how distraught he is and yet he won’t give up trying to do the right thing. Ben mentions that he “lost him” and we get a mention of the Spider-War in which we’re told to see Spider-Geddon #3.

With that in mind, it seems as though Ben in the bar is taking place in the near future and something happens to Peter during the big war. It seems odd that they’d spoil something like that before the event even really launches, but it does explain why Ben isn’t being “recruited” in this issue.

Overall, this issue tells a heartbreaking story if Peter is in fact gone. Even at the beginning, Uncle Ben gets a diagnosis that isn’t all that great. However, the story fell a bit flat once we started getting into possible spoiler territory. That bit just doesn’t make sense to me. Why tell us to see Spider-Geddon#3 in this issue if it isn’t even out yet?
