Venom: The good and the bad

When I first saw the scene above in the trailers, I thought this was going to be a terrible moment. When you get to the part of the movie where this happens, it’s actually well placed and funny. Also, watching the trailers, funny isn’t a word I thought I would use to describe Venom. He’s not really a funny character and is usually supposed to be scary. Venom was actually pretty funny.
There were a ton of moments where I found myself laughing almost violently. For those of you who haven’t seen the movie, going in, make sure you remember Venom telling Eddie to jump. For those of you who have seen it, I know that scene stuck with you.
It was a moment that showed you exactly the type of relationship the two would have throughout the movie. The way Venom talked to Eddie in his head was great. Every time Eddie called Venom a parasite the reaction was priceless. It was wonderful that they ended with Eddie calling Venom a parasite and then made an excuse to why it worked. This makes me wonder how the movie would have done if they marketed the funny parts a bit more.
