2. Green Lantern – Guy Gardner

In the DCEU, there’s arguably no better role more suited for John Cena. Guy Gardner and John Cena look like copies of one another, kinda. Moreover, he’s the Lantern with a backstory unlike any other.

As a matter of fact, Guy was supposed to be a Lantern before Hal Jordan Since he was out of reach Abin Sur told the right to search for a closer target, Hal Jordan.

Guy Gardner grew up a troubled child and had to learn some life lessons early on. Mace, his brother, and police officer helped Guy turn his life around. He became a student-athlete and graduated from college with a degree in Psychology.

After his brother Mace drowned himself, Guy devoted his life to helping others. He became a prison counselor and even helped Hal Jordan. Unfortunately, he felt the job brought out the worse in him — so he quit.

Guy went on to become a PE teacher for children with special needs. One of his early heroic moments came pre Green Lantern where he saves a bus full of children.

Underneath the kindness, he shows to his kids lies a foul mouth tough as nails hero. Throughout the pages of DC Comics, Guy is known for his brash attitude. Most recently Guy said goodbye to the Green Lantern and took up the Red Ring where he can best utilize his rage.

Cena playing Guy Gardner in the DCEU makes perfect sense. In fact, with the Green Lantern Corps movie coming, he could make a cameo.
