Review: The Amazing Spider-Man No. 11

The Amazing Spider-Man #11 features a fun-filled recovery from the emotional ending of last month’s issue and also focuses somewhat on J. Jonah Jameson. Keep reading for our spoiler-filled review.

THREAT! MEANCE! VILLAIN! These are words that J. Jonah Jameson was very used to using when it came to describing Spider-Man. He saw Spidey as nothing more than a menace to society and wanted him arrested. That was his opinion on the ol’ web-head.

His view all changed when Peter revealed his identity to Jameson recently. Since then, Jameson’s been a changed man… sort of. This issue sort of had his new view in a nutshell. I have to say, his execution of his view wasn’t much different.

Hero or Legend

Jonah now has his own radio show, and he spends the majority of it trying to prove that Spider-Man is a hero, not a villain. His methods of doing this are pretty much the same as at the Daily Bugle. He yells and screams to get his point across.

The radio show actually does pretty well, so well that Mayor Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin, invites Jameson to a dinner. However, Jonah wants Spider-Man to come too.

This creates a rift between the two, and during their argument, the Enforcers attack and capture the two of them. As they wake up, the duo wakes to a sight of not special Spider-Man villains, but villains that J Jonah Jameson had a part in creating.

Holly Jolly Jameson

This issue went by pretty quickly for me actually. While it is good to see some growth in Spidey and JJJ’s relationship, not much happened this month. Nothing was said about our mysterious foe who has been popping up. Mary Jane was hardly present. Spidey didn’t really do much as Peter, either. What I did enjoy though was how Christmas was incorporated into the issue. It’s always cool when the issue goes along with what is going on in the real world.

Overall, this issue wasn’t the greatest. But, it wasn’t the worst either. It’s a good issue, just not as good as I was hoping for.
