Crisis On Earth-X

When it comes to the crossovers, it’s clear that The CW really does live by the mantra “bigger is better.” The 2017 edition, “Crisis On Earth-X”, marked the first time that Supergirl fully took part and thus, the event was a four-part extravaganza, taking place across all four of the network’s Arrowverse shows.

Unlike previous events, the quadrant of heroes weren’t forced together because of some cataclysmic event, but instead, all united for a much more positive occasion – the long-awaited wedding of Barry Allen and Iris West. Of course, a congregation full of superheroes didn’t stop evil Earth-X Nazi Doppelgängers, Dark Arrow and Overgirl (and the Reverse-Flash) from crashing the ceremony with their army of soldiers and seeking the heart of Supergirl.

As a result, The Flash put his nuptials on the back-burner and once again joined forces with Green Arrow, Supergirl (along with their respective teams) and the Legends to take down this monumental threat. What then ensued was an incredible film-worthy saga as the heroes of Earth-1 attempted to destroy Earth-X’s evil army once and for all. But it wasn’t just all epic action as the writers took the time to tackle important storylines, highlighting that love will always trump intolerance.

From the debut of The Ray to the return of Wentworth Miller (as Earth-X’s heroic Citizen Cold), this grandiose adventure was overflowing with jaw-dropping moments, awe-inspiring visuals and glee-inciting Easter Eggs, alongside what was undoubtedly the most concise and well-written storyline that the crossovers have seen yet. It amazed us, amused us and ultimately broke our hearts – but, all in all, it was nothing short of spectacular.
